Auckland University Canoe Club

AUCC offers whitewater kayaking and rafting
adventures for everyone, no matter what your
skill level.
Many of our members have never touched a paddle when they first join the club, but after a couple of weekly pool trainings (which are open to everyone) and a few of our big events, it's amazing to see how fast they learn and how skilled they become.
We can teach you kayaking basics, like the 'T-rescue', the 'roll', 'bracing', and when you get pretty good, you'll learn about 'eddying' and 'edging'. If you get REEEEALY good, we can even teach you how to 'rodeo roll', 'cartwheel' and other tricks. In the rafting aspect, you'll experience the full force of grade 3-4 whitewater rapids with the teamwork of your raft buddies, have fun with water bombing, spontaneous wharf jumping, back-flip twist kicking (what?), possibly swimming in the cool waters, and laughing. You'll laugh a lot... just take a look at some of our pictures in the trip report section...
If you choose to relax, you can take it slow and enjoy the amazing view that some of our big events have to offer.
Auckland University Canoe Club (AUCC) is a whitewater club affiliated to the University of Auckland. We are a registered incorporated society (registration number 222220) as well as a charity (registration number CC53093). We are one of the oldest canoe clubs in New Zealand, tracing our history back to 1949. We are also one of the largest outdoor clubs on campus with over 300 members, and in 2015 we were awarded Sports Club of the year and Overall Club of the year by the University.
Are you interested in joining AUCC? If you are keen to do something a little out of the ordinary, sign up and we'll put you on the mailing list. If you're still not sure and want to see what this whole kayaking thing is all about come along to a club night. These run every Tuesday night during a semester.
